A high-velocity large-caliber GSW typically presents as a deep, narrow wound channel requiring blind digital packing technique to reach the bleeding point deep inside the wound track. A knife or laceration wound tends to be shallower and more linear, requiring different packing geometry and pressure distribution. Instructors teaching comprehensive hemorrhage control must expose students to both wound types to build complete skill sets.
